How HeyResume works
Start in your Career library: add material, review facts and answer useful follow-up questions. These build your base resume. Open Applications to add a job, understand the fit, review changes and download a tailored copy. Tailoring keeps your base resume unchanged.
Words we use
- Fact
- One thing you did, found in your material. Only facts you approve can appear on a resume.
- Must-have
- Something the job description says you need.
- Nice-to-have
- Something the job description says would help, but is optional.
- Employer condition
- A yes-or-no condition an employer may check before anyone reads your resume, such as security clearance or the right to work.
- Covered / Partial / Gap
- Your resume shows evidence for it / mentions it without a result / does not show it.
- Readiness
- Points out of 100 for how well this resume answers this job. It is not a chance of being hired.
- Measure
- A number in a line: a size, a saving, a before-and-after.
- Filler
- Phrases recruiters skip, such as “hardworking” or “proven track record”.
- ATS
- The software job portals use to read your file before a person does.
